Surely there is exploitation and there is egregious inequality, class division, plutocracy, and power elitism. The critique of these scourges is identified with the left and so the support for the left revives from time to time. It has ebbed and flowed for over a century.

I have always maintained that an enlightened person should be a leftist. At a fundamental level: Is a class-divided society OK or not OK?

Think of the kids you went to elementary school with. They sure did vary in regard to all characteristics: looks, brains, talents, manners, popularity, revulsion, etc. etc. But do you think it makes sense for them to grow up and wind up in different social classes … elites and subordinates. Um, we’re all just people. Class division of people is stupid and it sucks.

As the left says.

As Bernie said and his message got heard and the left had its last revival.

But the left doesn’t know what to do about its justifiable critique. And so support wanes.

And I notice these days the blog and Facebook postings of my leftist friends are more about Wordle than about Bernie. (both being six letter words that you can’t use)
