Why the discussion never seems to have a resolution

Right vs. Left.

Individualism vs. collectivism.

This seems to be a constant debate. In fact, it goes back centuries. And you would think there would have been some resolution to it by now.

The lack of resolution is due to the fact that a dimension is missing.

There are not really just two overarching considerations, there are three:
. individualism
. large-scale statist collectivism
. small-scale communitarian collectivism
