In 1975 we were all reading Ernest Mandel’s book Late Capitalism and figuring the process of system change would unfold over a period of a decade or two. Then we were hearing all about crises associated with peak oil, catastrophic soil erosion, aquifer depletion, deforestation, etc.
It was (and remains … now re: collapse) a problem of timeframe perspective.
