we’ve got to “spoil”

--

Our presence on the ballot does sometimes cost the Democrats some votes. They view that as “spoiling.”

Should we say that we “don’t spoil”? I think saying that conveys that we have no significance. It’s not true.

What the Democrats call “spoiling” demonstrates that we have a flawed electoral system. It needs to be reformed. They won’t help us in our efforts to reform the system until they’ve felt enough pain from our spoiling.
