Toward a greening of the Left . . . a recognition that as much as we’re oppressed by the inequality, injustice, and exploitation of the current socio-economic system, we’re also burdened by the complexity and hypertrophy of mass society.
Capitalism is nothing but the current manifestation of a turn toward aberrant lifeways dating back millennia. Capital, technology, and the state have constituted an interlocking juggernaut since the era of the ancient empires. Of course, capitalism plus industrialism enormously accelerated the toxic social and technological trajectories.
