The discombulation is clear. For example, the expression of voters is all over the place. Analysts and pundit don’t know what to make of it.

More generally, neither sociologists nor psychologist nor philosophers know what to say.

In the wake of marvelous technological advancements and scientific discoveries the actually most important discovery is that our lifeways are unsustainable. That usually sounds like an ecological concept, but our lifeways are also socially unsustainable.

This most important discovery is not talked about an awful lot. People don’t know what to say.

Neither the liberals nor the conservatives nor the socialists nor the libertarians nor the nationalists nor the religionists know what to do about it.

The Greens do know what to do about it. But it’s awfully hard to bring a deep green “program” into the electoral arena. Out-of-the-box. Marginalizing. Unthinkable. Degrowth, depopulation, deconstruction. Live more simply, more lightly, and more locally.

Addressing the discombobulation is quite a challenge.
