This is how hard it is to be a third party within the US electoral system

This spring a Green Party candidate obtained enough petition signatures to get on the ballot. More than enough.

But after the overturning of Roe the Democrats did something unprecedented: They obtained the list of petition signers and started to contact them to encourage them to notify the Secretary of State that their name should be removed from the petition. They said: “It must be a two choices race or the Republican might win.”
