The sorry pattern

I’m embarrassed for righteous leftists like Cornel West, Noam Chomsky, Angela Davis, Steve Shalom deigning to be so conformist.

The frustrating pattern they inevitably enact is so predictable:

If it’s been a Democratic administration, the unsatisfactoriness of Democratic Party politics is fully evident and undeniable. So they’re big bold radicals.

If it’s been a Republican administration, they say that the most important thing in the world is to remove the greater evil.

* * * *

I bide my time as the pattern plays out.

I vote Green to send a tiny message that there are some people who want to see “more voices and more choices” in American politics.

If you vote for the Democrat your vote adds to the fifty million others which altogether convey support for the Democratic Party candidate and, by extension, the Democratic Party platform.

The Democrats have been in power here in the belly of the beast for half the time over the last eight generations and the state of things continues to be characterized by extreme inequality, militarism, and ecological crisis. You’d think something different would be considered.

* * * *

Until the Greens are able to win at that level, I always hope that the Democrats prevail in the establishment horse race. Then at least I can look forward to that part of the cycle wherein the unsatisfactoriness of Democratic Party politics is fully evident and undeniable! Wonderful, then, that Cornel West, Noam Chomsky, Angela Davis, Steve Shalom, etc. will join me in advocating for a better alternative.

The dream scenario is that Ranked Choice Voting becomes ubiquitous, the country moves left, the Green Party grows, and the frustrating, sorry pattern finally fades away.
