the problem with Bernie Sanders

1 min readJun 13, 2024

He says:

“Biden is not popular and many progressives, including me, strongly disagree with his policies regarding Israel and this disastrous war in Gaza. But let’s be clear. Biden is not running against God. He is running against Donald Trump, the most dangerous president in American history whose second term, if he is re-elected, will be worse than his first.”

The problem with Bernie is that he fails to follow up a statement like the above with:

“Feeling as if you have to hold your nose and vote for a bad candidate in order to defeat a much worse candidate means that our electoral system is problematic. I will lead an initiative to change it.”

Bernie started off as an independent and used to advise against having any faith in the Democratic Party. If he likes caucusing with the Democrats in Congress now and can no longer bring himself to support independents, he should at least work to improve the problematic electoral system so that the Sandernistas will be liberated to vote for independents and third party candidates.
