The last straw

People have been increasingly unhappy under conditions of hypermodernity due to the afflictions of atomization, congestion, technological/institutional complexity, anomie, instability, hypermobility, withering of community, spiritual impoverishment.
The internet is pushing us to the point of full malaise. In addition to all the rest, the volume of “communications” and the overwhelming profusion of choices is the last straw. It’s now beyond coping, and people are giving up.
