The idea re: “Neither left nor right”

Leftism has commendable critiques of inequalty, social injustice, militarism, imperialism, exploitation, power elitism, etc.

I think we Greens should situate ourselves on the left.

But we need to help transform the left. It’s been bogged down in Marxist delusions for a century.

It was on that basis that some of the early Greens promoted the idea: “Neither left nor right.”

And a case for that can be made when using the word ‘conservative’ in a green way, i.e.:
. ecology as conservationism
. conservation biology
. a conserving society
. communitarianism, localism, decentralism as anti-statist
. against revolutionizing everything all the time
. re-establishing stability

The writings of Edward Goldsmith are a good example. They surely are not of the right, but neither are they particularly leftist.
