Oh, the left is kvetching.

To get anywhere close to power in a major industrial country a party just might have to do some compromising and engage in some realpolitik.

God forbid.

There’s a chance the Greens will poll the most votes in the September federal elections in Germany, form a coalition government, and gain the chancellorship (a position equivalent to US president). It may or may not happen this year, but it seems likely to happen in some country sometime soon.

The reaction of the old Red left is to disparage the Greens. As Labor, Social Democratic, and Socialist parties fade, as the Greens offer a significant new alternative, you can expect many more articles like the one above, askance at how the Greens might steal the thunder and transform the left.

The viewpoint of the article is distorted. The tone is antipathetic.

Sorry, stale old left, but the future is Green.
