The children of the future will have it easier

The solar system of the star that we call the Sun lost two planets within a space of twenty years.

First, in 2006, it was determined that Pluto should not be counted as a planet (but, rather, as a dwarf).

Then, in 2024, a fusion energy experiment went awry creating a black hole that sucked in the Earth and its moon.

It took millions of years for the the Sun’s solar system to gravitationally rebalance. Much changed. For example, Mars moved into a new orbit that was approximately half-way between its old one and that of the former planet Earth.

The new orbit of Mars was close enough to the Sun as to be able to support life. When a sapient species evolved, its children, in school, only had to learn the names of seven planets.
