Reading articles on the internet is like a game to me.

I can’t stand distracting ads and messages and comments and click-bait “enticements” and beeps and boops, so what I do is hit Ctrl-A / Ctrl-C immediately after clicking on a link. Ctrl-A selects all the text and Ctrl-C copies it. Then I go into my text editor and hit Ctrl-V. That copies the text. Then I close the internet window (thank god!). So now I just have the text of the article in my simple text editor. But it’s ridden with the textual remnants of the ads and messages and click-bait. So the game is to quickly and efficiently delete all that crap. I’ve gotten expert at it! Give me ten seconds and I’ll give you the pure unadulterated text of an article.

If a link that seems interesting is behind a pay-wall . . . I’m outta there, screw you, the surfeit of the internet means that there are a thousand alternative articles in the recesses of cyberspace freely available to waste my time as I play my game.
