Last year the Green Party of Germany finally polled enough percentage of the vote (15%) to join the national governing coalition. Here’s what they walked right into:

* they’re anti-militaristic, but encountered a war in nearby Ukraine; NATO called on the German government to supply armaments

* they’re skeptical of nuclear power and fossil-fuel-derived energy, but were faced with an energy crisis and a shortage of oil

* they want to raise the living standards of the lower and middle classes (by fostering more in the way of egalitarianism) but all of Europe got hit by a major recession

So they’ve been forced to enact policies that promote armament production, coal, nuclear, and austerity:
