Stupid me

Due to inheritances I had some money to invest. My choices turned out poorly.

By inclination I was anti-tech and anti-American-capitalism.

The stock market, of course, is nothing but a bourse. Ya pony up yer money and ya makes yer bets. The house (Big Finance) always gets their cut, but good bets can make fortunes.

I bet against Silicon Valley and American capitalism, hating them both.

During the 1970s we talked about Late Capitalism (as if) and technological simplification (as if).

Since 1980 nothing in the world has “done better” (capital gains wise) than American high tech. It has been central to the expansion of American industrial, financial, and cultural dominance.

The world has been worse off for it and my portfolio has sucked.
