They say:

“ . . . no matter how we “tame” or “humanize” capitalism, its fundamental logic precludes living in harmony with each other and nature.”

Watch this . . . change just one word . . .

No matter how we “tame” or “humanize” industrialism, its fundamental logic precludes living in harmony with each other and nature.

* * * *

In other words, the problem goes beyond just property relations (i.e., whether the means of production are owned privately or publicly). That’s why socialism has not been particularly satisfactory as an alternative.

No matter how we “tame” or “humanize” or socialize the industrial state, its fundamental logic precludes living in harmony with each other and nature. Its mega-scale productive enterprises can’t possibly be “of, by, and for the people.” The whole paradigm breeds power elitism in one form or another (capitalists or autocrats or bureaucrats or technocrats).
