so many nuts

A central project of my activist life has focused on the attempt to transition the left “from Red to Green.” I maintain that Green is post-Marxist. There are some ecosocialists who claim that Marx was in the process of going Green toward the end of his life. Kohei Saito is one. I think he’s nuts. But in an article all about debunking his theories the writers Matt Huber and Leigh Phillips show how the Red left clings to all the old retrograde delusions about progressive stages of history, the benefits of capitalist development, the “unfettering of the productive forces” under socialism, and the prospect of the working class collectively owning and democratically controlling a hypermodern industrial economy (they, too, are nuts):
