They seem to feel pressure to say a lot. I saw it with Nader in 1996 and 2000. In one sense it was, like, amazing … he’d do five campaign appearances in a day (typically, at five university campuses in an area, for example) … and at each one he would talk for two hours. He was making a point in counterposing his in-depth presentations to the three-minute sound-bite superficiality of mass media interviews . . . but, Ralph, it was too much in the way of counterposition. An hour too much.
