For the first time since 2000 the Green Party candidate for president came in third (i.e., received the highest vote total among all alternative-party candidates and independents).
Of the 51 races for local office in November, at least 20 Greens were elected, including 12 out of 13 incumbents. Among the 20 elected, two were for city council, five for school board, eight for water board and two for parks board.
Earlier in 2024, running for similar offices, Greens were elected in 30 out of 41 races.
Overall at least 184 Greens in 27 states ran in 2024 . . . 92 for local office and 92 for state and federal office.
