Industrialism knocks out commodities like crazy. Massive volume with massive appeal to the consumers of mass society.

History: A jump up with assembly line production (think: Ford). Another jump-up re: customer and inventory tracking (think: IBM). Another jump up re: rapid mass distribution (think: Amazon).

Wow.

But we may be approaching satiation. Surfeit will induce decreasing appeal.

Hopefully, people will increasingly disdain affluenza standards of consumption in favor of eco-communitarian satisfactions and values.
