on universalisms

1 min readApr 24, 2025

I’m an ecosocialist: some socialism in order to defang the ruinous capitalist system. Decentralist. The ultimate goal being a bioregionalist society.

Bioregionalism means diversity in regard to all aspects of life, so ultimately there will be no universalist “best way” to handle economic relations.

Only two universalisms:

* Ban weapons of mass and/or impersonal destruction. Any weapon involving lethal-at-a-distance. Ban guns, mortars, missiles, etc. And, of course, ban nuclear weapons.

* Ban imperial formations. Far-flung mega-states, corporate empires, other too-large, too-remote, too-opaque, too-impersonal institutions.

So it would be a world of thousands of decentralized bioregional sovereignties that do meet and do strive for mutually beneficial coordination in a Global Council of Bioregional Sovereignties and do agree to ban weapons of mass and/or impersonal destruction and do agree to ban imperial formations. They don’t enforce via a Global Police Force, no, they enforce through sanctions, isolation, and seclusion.
