My generation was the one that began the cultural cross-over.

Seeing what was involved was frightening, disorienting. Many were traumatized. Many spent time in an institution. Many got a whiff of the morass and turned away. Many got lost in it. Many struggled. Many were knocked off course. Many were discombobulated and for their adulthood sought a manageable haven.

There was an inexplicable trauma. That’s the worst kind.
