It’s just alienation being vented
I couldn’t figure it out in 2016. The guy wasn’t successful running casinos, his TV show was dull, he was a weird combination of elitism and boorishness, a New York City real estate scion who had nothing whatsoever in common with salt-of-the-earth working class people.
How could he be enough of a populist vote-getter to be elected president?
Then: his administration was not successful, policy-wise, and he was impeached twice . . . how could he remain viable as a run-again candidate?
I now believe that the weird phenomenon has a simple explanation: The support of the alienated masses says “fuck you” to the cosmopolitan elites and the mainstream media who so utterly disdain him.
