It seems as if each new generation just needs to deal with it again

That’s exactly the kind of article that was new in 1965, of great interest, and replicated ten thousand times during the liberatory period of the following ten years.

But I’m surprised to observe how it still seems to be “news” several generations later.

There’s a narrative that after Ellis, Freud, Kinsey, de Beauvoir, Friedan, Steinem, et. al. enlightenment dawned during the middle part of the last century. Sophisticated people were past shame, embarrassment, biblical morality. And yet ...

Supposedly now just-common, just-healthy, just-fine, sex is just not your everyday mundane, oh-part-of-life. Parents are still uncomfortable telling. There’s still an issue about presentation in the schools. People still feel motivated to write articles like the above.

Within idiosyncratic human society, inevitably somewhat siloed from nature (we can’t take our animality, we can’t abide direct naturalness) it seems like it will just always be a hot-button issue.
