There are 85 people in the country today celebrating the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Workers Party on December 31, 1937.

There was once an appeal to Trotskyism. Some of us (once) saw it as the best alternative to the two systems that obviously totally sucked: Capitalism on the one hand and Stalinism on the other hand.

When we were radicals during the 1960s (and the Green politics movement was not yet on the radar screen) there only seemed to be two viable ideological alternatives … social democracy (Michael Harrington) and Trotskyism (James Cannon).

So we were fans of Cannon.

If you have any interest, Murray Smith’s article is an example of the full and idealistic classic Red paradigm, still being adhered to by some (few) in 2022 … “dictatorship of the proletariat” … !!!
