. . . campaigns against school curriculums that mention LGBT rights, race, critical race theory, and discrimination, and multiple chapters have also campaigned to ban from school libraries books that address gender and sexuality issues.
As they sit there in classrooms kids are presented with a portrayal of society and of adult life within it.
The portrayal is influential and so it’s not surprising to see debate about.
But my own perspective on the situation goes deeper than what the portrayals and the canons should be.
I dislike the whole paradigm of children going off to some authoritative setting where information is directed at them. It’s Official Inculcation; a concept of education as: Learning (and getting tested on) the Canon of our society’s Knowledge.
