In this country just enduring as a third party is an accomplishment
There is an obvious need for a Green politics movement.
So there is a worldwide Green politics movement . . . which is growing . . . slowly but steadily.
This country is especially difficult re: the fortunes of alternative parties, but the Green Party has endured now for three decades.
Meanwhile, during that period of time, we’ve seen come and go:
. Citizens Party (1980–1996)
. Labor Party (1990–2008)
. Natural Law Party (1992–2012)
. Reform Party (1995–2008)
. Progressive Party (in some states 2004–2012)
. Justice Party (2012–2018)
Latest: The People’s Party, launched with a lot of fanfare in the wake of the Bernie Sanders campaign, has recently been imploding.
These other initiatives tend to critique the Greens as marginal or dysfunctional or non-thriving . . . until they find out how hard it is to establish, function, and endure.
