I think it was inevitable

One thing that’s going on is a loss of authority of (and a waning of deference to) the mega-institutions . . . the big/dominant political parties, the big/dominant media, etc.

That seems logical to me . . . because they are remote and alienating and self-interested.

There could be a rebellion. Or there could mostly just be an indifference/disaffection.

The Great Resignation followed by a (more general) Great Turning Away.
