A good thing is happening to Europeans: They are in the process of being disabused of delusions of grandeur.
They were the cat’s meow during the period of colonial expansionism. Their elites got very rich. They dominated, subjugated, and exploited under the rubric of benevolently bringing their high and mighty civilization to the Others. It was a horror.
Then they were overtaken by other dominators. Their expansionism ended. Their situation stagnated. They stopped making progress.
And their challenge now is post-modern. Downscale. Degrow. Settle back. Reduce, re-use, relax.
Reduce, reduce, reduce.
