From the periphery

This is the best article I’ve read showing how The Long Emergency will be unfolding from the periphery:

Failed states, forgotten peoples. Decades and centuries of creeping collapse. And most of the ecologically-induced aspects of the situation have not yet even started to become critical.

(Life among the world’s affluent ten percent won’t start to be significantly disturbed until at least the next century.)

But there is also, in our time, grounds for encouragement. People can learn, and people are learning.
