During the period when all of the “underdeveloped” countries were called the “Third World,” the Soviet Union and its satellites were considered the “Second World powers.”

The terminology now replaces “Third World” with “Global South” and “Second World” with “Global East.”

It’s notable that in the current conflicts a number of the Eastern and Southern countries are taking the side of Russia and the side of Palestine. Related is the establishment of the BRICS bloc.

. rise of the West on a cosmopolitan scale from 1750 to 1950

“The latter period marks a discontinuity: the global influence of the West expands beyond all historical parallels.”

After 1950: The global dominance of the West under the aegis of the United States of America shatters all historical precedents.

Naturally, we see the East and the South resentful.

And we wonder: When will the West fall?
