Fable and question
There once was a medium-size country that decided to take certain actions. It was aware that those actions could unsettle an aggressive, larger country on its border.
Astute observers warned that those actions could very well result in highly destructive blowback.
The country proceeded with those actions, anyway.
Then there was highly destructive blowback.
Should we conclude that the country had good leadership or not-so-good leadership?

With the prospect of Sievierodonetsk falling to Russia and increasingly urgent pleas by Ukraine to the West for longer-range weapons, the situation was also raising concerns among some Western officials about whether President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has a viable strategy to win the war.
