emotional/psychological realism
The School of Life has its critics. A chief concern is that they can be simplistic in addressing emotional/psychological issues. But a virtue is that they have a realistic perspective about the human condition . . . about our proclivities, our feelings. For example, about marriage. We’re all neurotic to some extent (and in idiosyncratic ways), so in one aspect marriage is like being tethered to a neurotic in a three-legged race. The School of Life points out how that can be hard to deal with. Going in to it with a realistic perspective can help.
