Elevator pitch

Leftists sometimes accuse us of naively thinking that localist community revitalization is a panacea. But it’s not true. We hate capitalism just as much as they do. We acknowledge that the greening of society will involve transformation at both the micro level and the macro level.

Yes, we must say No to capitalism. But we can stress to leftists that the problems go beyond just capitalist economic relations. They need to appreciate the totality of the Leviathan complex, as well as the varieties of social change orientations.

If you find yourself stuck in an elevator with one, here’s what you can say:

“In addition to building ecovillages and running for local office on a Transition Towns program, we should also be working toward moving past or transcending or smashing or overthrowing or defanging or undermining modern statist-technocratic industrial capitalism.”

If, in addition to being stuck in the elevator you notice that they’re also stuck in the old paradigm, you might need to repeat that once or twice.
