Danger of asphyxiation

Taken as a whole, America is actually somewhat more blue than red. As of May 2020, Gallup polling found that 31% identified as Democrats, 25% identified as Republican. The system works in a way that equalizes their relative power and influence. Low-population Montana (1 million) gets two Senators just as high-population California (40 million) does. That explains why Republicans currently have a majority in the Senate.

But the overall populace is more Democratic. And that plurality is right now in mortal danger.

They’ll be holding their breath until November 4. Those who survive covid and hypoxemia then face the possibility of dying of heartbreak.

These are precarious times.
