Best to get perspective

So: 50 years since the first Earth Day.

That’s two generations.

Come on, now . . . if you’re inclined to think in terms of Cataclysm Soon or Socialism Soon . . .

The world just doesn’t look all so much different in 2020 than it did in 1970.

There have always been periodic pandemics. The human race trudges on. Since the rise of the state there has always been plutocracy. The poor, the oppressed, the proletariat don’t often Overturn It All.

Civilization is like an ocean liner. The ship of state can only be turned very slowly.

It won’t collapse overnight.

And building the new society within the shell of the old won’t be achieved overnight.

It will be achieved . . . over . . . generations . . .
