Bernie had vision; Elizabeth Warren had plans; Biden has generalities

The expectations re: Joe Biden’s speaking ability have gotten so low that his acceptance speech last night was viewed as surprisingly good, relatively speaking.

But I took the transcript and tried to find delineation of what he’ll do if he’s elected. I guess the specifics will be forthcoming during the campaign. But this speech was awfully full of generalities . . .

Specifics:

. develop and deploy rapid tests with results available immediately; make the medical supplies and protective equipment our country needs; make them here in America
. end loopholes and the $1.3 trillion tax giveaway to the wealthiest 1 percent and the biggest corporations

Generalities:

. draw on the best of us not the worst
. I will be an American president (i.e., not just a Democratic Party president); I will work as hard for those who didn’t support me as I will for those who did
. I will get control of the virus that’s ruined so many lives
. make sure our schools have the resources they need to be open, safe, and effective
. I will protect America. I will defend us from every attack. Seen. And unseen.
. rebuild our economy’s infrastructure
. reduce college costs and student debt
. build on the Affordable Care Act
. expand child care and elder care
. empower labor unions
. foster rising wages and equal pay for women
. deal with climate change
. lead the world in clean energy and create millions of new good-paying jobs in the process
. protect Social Security and Medicare
. restore the promise of America to everyone
. ask God to protect our troops

Very little in the way of specifics.
