Bernie feels burned

Since June, when Joe Biden reached a bipartisan deal in the Senate on a $1 trillion infrastructure bill, he and Nancy Pelosi have vowed to bring it to a vote in the House at the same time as a $3.5 trillion party-line reconciliation bill. Bernie desperately wants to the see the latter passed . . . in as robust a form as possible (he’s fighting against efforts to pare down the spending amount). He feels it will be his legacy, akin to LBJ getting the Great Society programs passed. A package vote for the two bills together will be easier to get through. Pelosi’s decision on Tuesday to allow separate consideration of the two blew up that strategy, and Bernie is furious.
