as it was fading

Jun 4, 2025

We were young and naive, so we thought our “better world” ideas could prevail … soon.

There was real dynamism to the counterculture during the late sixties and most of the seventies. But by the end of the latter decade it was fading. I had a sense of that watching the Blossom Music Festival of 1979.

Dusk.

My parents loved Frank Sinatra. He was a good singer, but all he did was sing the songs. Our generation admired those who created music. The Joni Mitchells and the James Taylors … they presented their creativity to the world through writing, arranging, playing, and singing their songs.

The tone of the Blossom Music Festival.

The “better world” ideas.

Fading … to be followed by noise and nihilism.
