Another indicator re: the malaise

Household formation and home ownership are both down considerably.

It’s too hard, too stressful, too expensive.

People aren’t coping well. (It’s actually a wonder that they cope to the degree that they do.)

We had a premonition of it and an idea to leave it, but we were naive about what the latter would entail.
