It’s not just the pitiful orientation of seeing people as “prospective buyers.” That sucks, but the insanity of the modern situation is the inifinitude of the domain of prospective buyers.
The lonely atomized company faces a world containing a for all intents and purposes infinite number of them. It’s daunting. The poor company could be subject to over-strain in its striving to reach them all. Nurture them all.
Contemplating it gives me a headache.
